The EuRadCom software creates a composite for Germany, Austria, Benelux, France and Switzerland based on rainfall radar reflectivities that are updated every five minutes. It was originally developed within the scope of a project by Germany’s national meteorological service (Deutscher Wetterdienst, DWD) for the Maastricht Upper Area Control Center (MUAC) of the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL). The software features configurable adjustment modules and makes the final product available in an ASTERIX CAT009-ready format. Visualisations of the composite are also generated automatically. The DWD has used the EuRadCom software in 24/7 operational service since summer 2006.
